When a larger expedition or foreign travel beckons, you'll need a larger rucksack or backpack to accommodate all of your belongings. The two factors in deciding what bag is right for you are its capacity and your height.
If you heading away for an overnight trip then a bag between 30 and 50 litres will give you the space for the addition of a sleeping bag, and straps to attach a tent. For a longer trip or backpacking holiday a 60 - 80 litre bag will be most suitable, with sections for your variety of kit, plenty of pockets and an effective back system.
High Capacity Rucksacks
Once you have decided what size of bag you need, you next need to look at the way it will fit on your back. At Mountain Warehouse all of our packs have adjustable back systems, to tailor the fit and we have models designed specifically for women and those with shorter backs.
Much of the weight of a bag will be carried by your hips, so you need to make sure that when the bag is adjusted the hip belt sits low enough down, not riding up around your waist. If it sits too low then the bag is too big for you, and vice versa if the belt sits too high.
All of our bags have technical back systems which use an internal frame to distribute weight evenly, and ventilation to keep your back cool.
