We’re very pleased to have launched another successful edition of our Charity Challenge this year with a huge prize pot of £10,000 for the winner’s chosen charity! On top of that, this year welcomed our Charity Challenge ambassador; Britain’s best ever gymnast, Beth Tweddle, who will be joining the winner to complete one of her bucket list activities: helicopter flying!
The winner of this year’s Charity Challenge is Alec Shillaker, who will be trekking Argentina’s Aconcagua next month to raise money for Meningitis Now; a UK charity which saves lives and rebuilds futures by funding research, raising awareness and providing support to those affected by meningitis.
Aconcagua is the highest mountain in the Southern & Western hemisphere and the 2nd highest of the 7 summits after Everest. The challenge should take 27 days to complete and in temperatures as low as -30C.
Alec and his wife Victoria wanted to raise money for Meningitis Now for a cause very close to their hearts,“my son, Finn, had pneumococcal meningitis when he was 9 months old. We were very lucky and we wanted to try and raise money to help others less fortunate.” says Alec.
Our Founder, Mark Neale said, “it’s been such a fantastic year for the Charity Challenge. Mountain Warehouse is dedicated to supporting charities across the country and we’re thrilled to have seen more interest this year than ever before”.
Thank you to all those who entered our Charity Challenge this year and congratulations to Alec; we wish you the best of luck for your challenge!
