Things To Do On Mother’s Day 2019

05.03.2019 | Winter Wonders

Mother’s Day is just around the corner and if you’re trying to think of something a little different to do this year rather than the classic Sunday Lunch then we’ve got you covered. We have put together a few ways of how to spend some quality time with the woman herself!

  • Sunday Stroll
  • If you want some fresh air, but don’t fancy a strenuous hike, taking your mum for a Sunday stroll is the perfect solution! Map out a nearby trail and enjoy a leisurely walk together, perhaps one that has a tearoom or pub at the finish line to refuel your appetites.

  • Spa Day
  • Taking some time away might be a good idea if you’re both in need of a little break. Venture out of your city or dive even further into the countryside to enjoy some much-needed time offline. Of course, you don’t have to go to a spa to enjoy this rest and relaxation treatment, why not buy a few face masks, get into your dressing gowns whilst flicking through a few magazines – priceless!

  • Flower Arranging
  • Instead of buying the usual bouquet of flowers from your local florist, how about a flower arranging workshop? This is a lovely day out especially if you have a creative mum or one that always has a vase of blooms in the home. Not only will it be great fun making your own bunch of florals together, but you’ll finish the day with a personal gift for her to take home

  • Fruit Picking
  • Find out what fruit is in season at your local farm and steal your mum for an afternoon of fruit picking fun. While filling your baskets, be sure to try before you buy and take advantage of the picture-perfect moment of picking from apple trees! If you have time, we’d also suggest a post-picking baking session too.

  • Bike Ride
  • If the sun is out (fingers crossed), why not whisk your mum away on a bike ride! Be sure to take a few scrummy snacks to enjoy on your way and take in the lovely scenery around you. If you’re cycling in the city, plan your route and turn it into a mini city tour and get exploring!

  • Movie Marathon
  • Many locations now offer drive in or outdoor cinemas which makes for an exciting change but do check your local area for these events. If not, have a movie marathon at home! No need to subject yourself to cinema prices when you can pop your own popcorn, make nachos and snuggle up with a classic feel good or chilling thriller in your very own living room.

  • Bake Off
  • Thinking of making getting all your siblings together or maybe Mum has a competitive side? Create some friendly baking wars in the kitchen and test each other’s signature bakes. Or perhaps bake something neither of you have had before and see whose comes out on top!

  • Photo Throwback
  • Regret past outfit choices that your mum dressed you in or reminisce back to past family holidays? Digging out all the old disposable pictures, or maybe digital ones for the newer generations, is an activity you’ll wish you’d done sooner! It will be guaranteed to put a smile on both your faces looking back to all the amazing times you’ve shared together

  • Yoga
  • Yoga is a great way to connect, whether it be with your mind, body or Mum! This calm form of exercise is a great way to get you both moving and bonding, especially if you both live busy lives. You may even end up taking it up as a hobby together!

  • Wine Tasting
  • I’m sure she won’t need much convincing to go along to this experience with you! Although its guaranteed fun and lots of free glasses of wine most tasting experiences provide you with a lot of knowledgeable facts and take this trade very seriously so try not to be the ones giggling in the background.

  • Breakfast in Bed
  • It always seems like quite a treat when you take your breakfast back up to bed so how about treating Mum to the luxury life this Mother’s Day? You could start off with a bowl of granola followed by some eggs on toast? Why not fold a piece of paper in half and create a personalised menu with tick boxes for her to complete? To top it all off, cut a flower out of the garden and place on a mini vase on her breakfast tray! It’s the little things that bring a smile!

  • Trip to the Coast
  • Are you always stuck in the city or suburbs? Venture out to the coast and take a breath of the ocean air! Its sometimes easy to forget that we live on an island and that the coast is only a drive or train journey away for some of us! Grab some local fish and chips, sit on the beach and enjoy the panoramic sea view.

  • Brunch
  • There is something that does just seem quite indulgent with a brunch and with so many restaurants and cafes now providing them in bottomless forms! This means you get to have a laid-back morning with no rush to get out the house and an indulgent stack of pancakes or toasted sandwich – depending on which side of brunch you prefer.
