A. RECCO technology is used to find people trapped in avalanches. There are two parts to this technology. The first is the reflectors which are attached to or sewn into ski clothing and the second part is the detectors which ski resorts and mountain rescue teams carry.
The wearers of RECCO technology do not need to do anything to activate them. In an avalanche a signal is sent out and when a RECCO reflector is detected it sends a signal back to the rescuer so they can locate the person who is trapped. Wearing multiple reflectors in your clothing (for example both jacket AND salopettes) can improve detection.
